Why we built MoodFire
Mental health matters. But for too many people, the right support feels out of reach. Younger generations are navigating more pressure than ever before and the tools available have not kept pace.
We built MoodFire because we believe everyone deserves structured, evidence-based CBT self-help tools to manage anxiety and stress. No barriers. No judgement. Just real support that meets you where you are.
Our mission
To equip people with the tools to navigate the stresses of modern life and come out stronger. MoodFire helps users recognise patterns in their mood, challenge unhelpful thinking and build healthier habits that lead to noticeable improvements in how they feel.
We are not here to lecture or diagnose. We are here to help, in a way that feels approachable and completely free of stigma.
Our approach
MoodFire is grounded in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), the most extensively researched form of psychological intervention. Our Reframe tool applies structured cognitive restructuring, helping users identify unhelpful thought patterns and generate balanced, realistic alternatives across categories like self-worth, relationships, work, and social anxiety.
We supplement this CBT foundation with distress tolerance techniques derived from dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), including the widely-used 5-4-3-2-1 sensory grounding method for moments of overwhelm.
MoodFire follows a low-intensity digital CBT self-help model. It is the same category the NHS commissions through Talking Therapies. We are not a replacement for clinical care. We provide structured, evidence-based tools that people can use daily to build real psychological resilience.
Who we are
MoodFire is built by MoodFire Ltd, a team with over 20 years of experience in product development. We combine deep expertise in building digital products with a genuine commitment to improving mental wellbeing.
Every feature in MoodFire is grounded in established techniques from CBT and DBT, including cognitive restructuring, diaphragmatic breathing, sensory grounding, ecological momentary assessment, and positive psychology. We took what works and made it simple, intuitive and easy to pick up.
Our commitment to evidence
We are committed to holding MoodFire to the highest standards of digital health credibility. We are actively working towards:
- DTAC compliance. The UK’s Digital Technology Assessment Criteria for apps used in health and care settings.
- Outcome measurement. Integration of validated clinical measures (PHQ-9 and GAD-7) to measure the real impact of MoodFire on user wellbeing.
MoodFire Ltd is a UK limited company registered in England and Wales. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Built for everyone
Pressure on young adults is at record levels, and the tools to help should be as accessible as the apps that add to it. MoodFire is designed to feel approachable at any age: straightforward, stigma-free, and quietly useful.
Your mental health is not a trend. It is a priority. And we are here to help you take care of it.
